Like A Butterfly Canvas Collage

It’s time for another step out showing how I created one of my mini canvas collages!

I started out with a primed 4×4 hardboard panel:

Collage on a bunch of vintage ephemera for a base:

Add some stenciling with acrylic paint:

Then collage on some tissue paper, pattern tissue and mulberry paper:

Outline title in gel pen and glue on butterfly:
lab6

Using charcoal pencil, outline the butterfly image:
lab7

Splatter acrylic inks all over:
lab8

Edge the whole piece with charcoal pencil and finish it off with a coat of gel medium to seal it!

HMB# 36 – dream butterfly

Somewhat similar to my last HMB (i LOVE those art nouveau masks i made with my cricut!), as this was the leftovers from making that. but this time i outlined everything with newsprint tissue paper.

HMB #35 – dreams & magic

I just love how this came out, it looks so pretty! This is probably one of my favorite techniques right now – using a big stencil/mask, spray inks and then drawing swirls inside the open space.
